There's always a "better, faster, cheaper" way to do anything.      Your job:  Find it, do it, and then keep trying to improve on that.

If there is a term that describes today's top management thinking in every well-run business or industry in the world, it is: "Better Faster Cheaper".  It  should be the motto of every organization regardless of its roots.    If local, state and national governments subscribed to this and practiced it, your taxes would go down dramatically.   The service  in every store and restaurant  would be excellent.   It would be easy to get something done by telephone.   And every employee of every employer would feel good when they got home after work,  knowing that they did one heck of a good job that day!  

Management needs to hire the BEST QUALIFIED people,  TRAIN them to work at maximum efficiency, and SUPERVISE them constantly.   And then re-train and supervise some more!  

A boss who is at the golf course or away at his "club",  or out for a 2 hour lunch, or gone to a distant location for a "meeting" will get ripped off by every employee, whether it be by outright thievery or simply by doing personal things on company time. doing less than their best, or other activities not in the best interests of the employer, just because they are confident they'll get away with it.  

Customers deserve the best your company can provide.  Anything less is not good enough.  So now is an excellent time to begin doing your job with PASSION.   "Better Faster Cheaper" from now on.   NO business "runs itself".   If you think yours does, your competitors will thank you for letting them take your customers, and in your ignorant bliss, you won't even know it.
